Air Force One is known around the world as the sole mode of long distance transportation for the president of the United States. The first president to fly on an aircraft whilst in office was Franklin D. Roosevelt. The actual U.S. Air Force One was created with the signing of the National Security Act of 1947; this legislation was signed by Harry S. Truman while he was actually flying the plane designated for the president at the time. Air Force One was created because the Secret Service was concerned that commercial air travel was unreliable and could not provide the level of security the president needed. Air Force One applies not only to the specific plane used by the president, but is also the call sign for any aircraft the president should need to fly on. The current Air Force One is the iconic Boeing 747 and is equipped with countless safety measures as well as a myriad of ways to protect the plane from countless security threats.

Public transportation is a vital part of what makes a major city thrive and prosper. In an effort to keep small city streets clear of traffic most large cities employ a large system of public transportation to allow commuters to navigate the busy streets. The majority of cities employ a system of underground and above ground train systems in an effort to remove as much congestion from roads as possible. Public transportation, such as high speed trains, is also utilized to connect major cities to one another. One problem that public transportation faces is getting the proper funding to maintain the systems. Many cities have older transportation systems that don’t have the proper funds to keep them maintained properly. The use of a public system of transportation also saves commuters who travel long distances a significant amount of money over time.
